Now... if we want to get technical.. here is some deeper information on the area of of the moon cycle considered the New Moon. But there is also those who observe a little bit more.
The dark moon is a powerful time for releasing anything you want to really make sure is truly gone.
Some think that the Dark Moon and the Black Moon are the same thing, but that’s actually not true.
A Dark Moon occurs every single lunar cycle, and falls on the day right before the New Moon.
It's the end of the cycle and takes place when there is 0% visibility.
A New Moon, on the other hand, is the start of the next cycle and takes place when there is around 1% visibility.
Not to be confused with the Dark Moon, the Black Moon is the second New Moon in any one month and has to do with the fact that the Gregorian calendar is slightly out of sync with the movement of the celestial spheres, in particular the moon.
Black moons don't fall every year, and while there was one in 2022, the next black moon doesn't fall until November of 2024.
Fortunately for us, though, Dark Moons occur every single month.
Whereas New Moon energy is conducive for new beginnings, new ventures, and starting over, the Dark Moon energy is highly potent for releasings of any kind.
This month, the Dark Moon falls on Saturday 2/18 or Sunday 2/19, depending on what time zone you're in (for everyone east of Pacific Time Zone, the dark moon falls on Sunday; for Pacific Time Zone and everything west of that, the dark moon falls on Saturday).
So, if you have something big you need to let go of, something that you really want to make sure is gone, this weekend is the perfect time.
Surrender to the energy of the dark moon and let it go!
Blessed Be!
